7/18/99: Unfortunately I have had little or no time to devote to the development
of a new 1999 FedEx Champcar carset. I made a small amount of progress, but it wasn't long
before I remembered exactly how involved and difficult the process is. My apologies for getting everyone's
hopes up.
Thanks to everyone who wrote to inquire about updates!
8/20/98: At long last the updated FedEx carset is ready! With the tireless help and infinite
patience of David Radecki this newest edition is made possible.
Download it now! Preview it here!
Some of the many improvements include:
- Paintjob and logo changes to almost every single car
- Chassis updates: Fernandez and Kanaan now in Reynards, Meier in a Lola, and Hearn
in a Swift (they look really sweet, too!)
- Rear wing changes: as a result of popular voting, I put the images on the rear wings so that
they appear correct when viewed from BEHIND the car. This is, I believe, the more
realistic option, as this is how they are viewed most often from the cockpit of your car
- Low-resolution cars: miscellaneous fixes for accuracy
- Menu changes: updated all the teams, and driver and car pictures for 1998 in the drivers' menu
- Finally, my car is available for use in the Redwolf.pod, so that should you want to put
yourself in, you know what files to change and how to change them.
If you'd like to preview the cars, you can look here.
However, many of the cars have changed since these shots were taken, so the set looks even better
than it appears!
Once again, it is Dave Radecki and his CPR Toolbox that made
all this possible, be sure to give him your thanks. Me, I just painted them cars ;o)

Receiving an error, "Car 4 not found"?
You probably have a custom track installed in your /races subdirectory, which are usually
set for 1997. To run the carset, you can update them to 1998 using a text editor. Use
one of my *.rce files as a guide.
It is our hope that this carset will be successful enough that the track designers will
use it as a basis for their *.rce files. Watch for news at the Apex about using *.bat files
that will help the situation of racing online using new tracks!
